Comprehensive capacity-building programme on commercial micro-propagation in Africa

(CCP-CMA)

Background:

Plant tissue culture or micropropagation technology has made significant contributions by enhancing agricultural productivity and by controlling losses due to disease through propagation of quality plants throughout the year.

A comprehensive capacity building programme on commercial micro-propagation for African candidates is being organized by Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), New Delhi with the support of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The program aims at capacity building of commercial micro propagation sector in African countries. BCIL is a company promoted by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and All India Financial Institutions. It was incorporated in 1990 with the objective of facilitating accelerated commercialization of biotechnology.

Identified African countries

The project will be implemented in 17 eastern, central and southern African countries namely Cameroon, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia,Nigeria, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan,South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe which offer good potential for use of this technology.

Areas for training:

The following activities would be carried out for strengthening of the African Micro-propagation Industry sector by building technological capacities of stakeholders over a period of five years:

How to apply:

 

First training programme of Module 1 (for the batch of 15 candidates) is scheduled from January 30, 2017 to February 11, 2017

Interested African candidates (from the listed countries) are requested to submit their applications in the prescribed format to shuklashivkant@biotech.co.in,  Info.bcil@nic.in BCIL by December 10, 2016. Application needs to be forwarded through Indian Mission in their responsive countries. BCIL will not consider any application directly submitted by candidates.
